Kensal Family Home

We knew this client well and knew they wanted their kitchen to feel like the true heart of their home. It needed to be a space that worked just as well for informal evening suppers as it did for hosting lively playdates with multiple children. We wanted to help them create a warm, fun, functional space that suited their young family and stood up to the rigours of everyday life.

The Nicky Haslam fabric for the blinds was the catalyst for the strong Greek blue we used throughout the the kitchen, with the tiled island echoing the colour on the joinery and adding a playful element that prevented the room from feeling overly stylised.

The Lacanche range cooker is hugely practical for family life, adding a visual anchor to the space, and San Simone quartzite worktops offer the beauty and movement of natural stone while being durable enough for a busy family kitchen

The joinery, initially designed by us and developed by Blockhouse Build, included a concealed pantry door as well as a really functional breakfast cupboard, with the units all built up to the ceiling to maximise on storage space.

Adding a ladder made sure the storage was genuinely usable while also bringing a strong architectural and decorative element to the room.

Additional joinery was added in kitchen in Royal Navy from Little Greene to compliment the cabinetry, with beautiful ribbed detailing to add warmth & texture.

Further joinery in the bedroom was softened with joinery curtains in a Colefax & Fowler fabric and included another hidden door through to a spacious dressing room.

To help with family life in this busy home, the vanity unit in the family bathroom housed a hidden laundry chute which the children use to send their dirty clothes straight to the utility room below. Fun and hugely practical!
